Everything you need for small-batch sourdough culture : Our Fresh Sourdough Starter, a descendant of a starter that's been lovingly nurtured here in New England for decades, and our Petite Sourdough Crock — a mini version of our popular Glass Crock — to easily maintain a smaller starter and help reduce discards. The 1-pint glass jar, with its clear construction and red markings on the side in 1/4" increments, let you quickly assess your starter's progress and health, and its loose-fitting stainless steel lid allows gases to escape, creating the ideal environment for fermentation. Set includes a perfectly-sized spatula to help mix and stir your starter.

Important: Sourdough starter is a living entity; it needs regular feeding.

Thus we recommend no more than 10 days elapse between when the sourdough starter you purchase leaves our facility, and when you give it its first feeding. Keep this in mind when choosing a delivery method; if you need help making the smartest shipping choice, please contact our customer service team.

For best results, please feed your fresh sourdough starter within 24 hours of receiving it.
